EXPLORER: MUI NE, VIETNAM
Ah, so it’s Wednesday. I returned from Mui Ne on Sunday night and have been so busy this week I haven’t had a chance to debrief. The time has finally come. ;)
Mui Ne is easily one of the chillest, most relaxing places, I have ever been. It’s an overdose (in the best way possible) of sun, sand, and FOOD. I had the best meal of my life while there. It’s a seaside town, which means fresh fresh fresh seafood—caught that day and made to order. But, let me start from the beginning!
We set out on a bus from HCMC Friday morning at about 7:30am and arrived around 1:30. The resort was perfect. Palm trees and greenery surround the pool, beach area, and the hotel and bungalows. Paths and walkways are slightly overgrown to give you the feeling that you are walking through nature itself, and hidden away from the world. The food there was decent. We hung around the pool and lounged on the chairs by the beach almost every day. It was exactly what I needed—to be away from the city and read and sit and relax without any schedule of things to do.
Part of our package from Sinh Tours included the trip to white sand dunes for dune sledding which was AMAZING. I strapped my Bloggie to my head for the ride and took a video. I’ll post that soon. I watched it last night and I’m going to apologize in advance for the amount of cursing I do in it. It was hot as hell, and climbing 40ft. steep-ass sand dunes is NOT an easy task. We also visited a fishing village and the red dunes (which weren’t nearly as spectacular). Our last night there Me, Sqy, and Kelly went off the resort for dinner together and HOLY CRAP! The food was out of this world. We had a kilo of prawns, a kilo of crab, grilled oysters with garlic and butter, beef satay, Kelly’s 2 1/2 lb. lobster, several beers, and banana crepe. Guess how much it cost each of us? $25!!!! STOP IT. You could never eat like that at home AND it was by far the freshest, tastiest, seafood of my life.
A few pictures are above—but the full fabulousness is on facebook in the original Vietnam!!! album and in the newly created Vietnam Part 2!! album.
All in all, it was a great time and I can’t wait to go back. I plan on heading up there with Jackie & Kim when they come in January. Woohoo!
